Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 June 2026

Placeholder — review before launch. This is sensible draft copy under UK GDPR, not finalised legal advice. It must be reviewed and approved by a qualified solicitor or data-protection adviser before Housometer goes live.

1. Who we are

Housometer is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. We are based in the United Kingdom. For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, contact us at hello@housometer.com.

2. What we collect

Account data: the email address you register with, and authentication details needed to keep your account secure.

Usage data: properties and searches you save, reports you have unlocked, and basic technical information (such as device and approximate location derived from your IP) needed to run and secure the Service.

Payment data: when you buy a report or subscribe, your payment is handled by Stripe. We receive a confirmation and limited billing metadata, but we never see or store your full card number.

3. How we use your data and our lawful basis

To provide the Service (creating your account, generating and saving reports): performance of our contract with you.

To take payment and prevent fraud: performance of our contract and our legitimate interests.

To improve and secure the Service, and to send essential service messages: our legitimate interests.

To send optional marketing or product updates: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

4. Processors we use

Supabase — authentication and database hosting for your account and saved data.

Stripe — payment processing for reports and subscriptions.

These processors act on our instructions under data-processing agreements. Where data is transferred outside the UK, appropriate safeguards (such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum) are in place.

5. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to keep the Service secure. We may use limited analytics cookies to understand usage; where these are not strictly necessary we will ask for your consent. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep certain records (for example billing records for tax purposes) for as long as the law requires.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your data; to have it corrected or erased; to restrict or object to processing; to data portability; and to withdraw consent where we rely on it.

To exercise any of these, email hello@housometer.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

8. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your data. No system is completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe and will notify you and the regulator of a breach where required.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a revised date and notify you of material changes.
